Your challenge

Business Unit:

The role of the Risk Team is to establish, implement and maintain on behalf of the Firm’s Governing and Management Boards, adequate risk management policies and procedures, including effective procedures for risk identification, assessment, management, and reporting/escalation, in relation to the Firm’s activities, processes and systems.  In addition, the Team provides support to new business initiatives and advises on day-to-day issues which may arise. 

Brief Role Objective:

The Senior Investment Risk Analyst is responsible for Independently performing risk analysis and to ensure risk levels align with stated objectives and to maximize long-term returns within risk tolerance parameters by balancing potential returns with acceptable risk levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor risk metrics versus defined risk levels including VaR, tracking error, benchmark, fund and market volatility, asset concentration, liquidity, diversification, leverage limits.
  • Support investment managers in capital allocation and portfolio and model construction for collective investment schemes (funds), Model Portfolio Services and private clients and provide insight into the risk within portfolios to optimize the allocation of capital across different asset classes and allow for informed investment decisions.
  • Provide robust oversight and challenge in the identification of investment risk issues, tracking to resolution, whilst supporting and providing advice, where necessary, to first line teams in addressing them.
  • Support the design, develop and analysis of market and liquidity stress testing of funds.
  • Analysis and interpretation of risk and performance data relative to risk factors, benchmarks and peer groups including derivative positions using a variety of metrics & measures.
  • Set appropriate investment risk limits to ensure the risk profiles of the funds are in line with the investment objectives.
  • Develop and maintain Policies and Procedures, to include, but not limited to, Risk Management Policies, Liquidity Stress Testing Policy.
  • Produce and deliver risk and liquidity reporting to appropriate stakeholders on required frequency. Reporting to identify sources of risk limit or liquidity breaches (internal. mandate, regulatory, prospectus).
  • Work with product development teams, as well as other key stakeholders, to ensure an appropriate risk assessment and liquidity stress testing analysis of proposed new products is performed during the product development phase and that all relevant risks are addressed.
  • Contribute to ad hoc project or other assignments.
  • Understand the UK, Jersey and Ireland regulatory landscape and knowledge on UCITS and AIFMD.
  • Perform risk calculation and analysis using Bloomberg, Bita Risk or other similar tools.

Your profile

Key Skills and Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Investment Risk role within the private wealth or investment management industry.
  • Strong academic record in a quantitative field.
  • Strong Excel, Power BI, and VBA skills.
  • Knowledge of financial market and asset classes.
  • Experience of using Risk tools such as Bloomberg PORT.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CFA, Certified PRM (PRMIA), FRM or equivalent investment risk management and investment qualifications are desirable.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, timely and accurate advice, often in a time sensitive and pressurised environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to produce well-structured accurate management/risk reports.
